My name is Winnifred Appiah, and Froband started with a simple but powerful question: Why is something as basic as tying our hair still so hard for us?

I have been natural for over four years. Like many women with afro-textured hair, I quickly realized that the hair accessories available to us were never really made for us. Ponytails were a struggle. Buns were a struggle. Most hair bands were either too tight, broke easily, or caused unnecessary tension and damage. So, like many naturals, I improvised. I used shoelaces. I cut up leggings just to make my hair stay in place. And more than once, I considered giving up on being natural , not because I didn't love my hair, but because the struggle was exhausting. That's when the idea for Froband was born.

Froband is a satin hair tie designed specifically for natural hair, braids, and locs.

Hair grows. Hair changes. A 2-year 4C afro is not the same as a 7-year 4A afro and we deserve accessories that understand that. Froband stretches with you, not against you.

I started this brand in Spain, where support for small Black-owned businesses especially women-led ones is almost nonexistent. This journey hasn't been easy. Visibility is hard. Growth is slow. But giving up is never an option, because Froband stand for the community.

Our mission is simple but powerful: To give naturals beautiful, colorful, comfortable hair ties with zero struggle. We deserve to do a ponytail or a bun without pain, without damage, and without compromise.
